At the border between Germany and Austria near Vorarlberg, only an inconspicuous border stone or sign separates the two countries – often in the middle of meadows, forests, or across alpine pastures. With a single step, you cross into the other country, while before you unfolds a view of Lake Constance, the Rhine Valley, or the Nagelfluhkette mountain range. A quiet yet special spot offering a genuine sense of the border on your hike.

From up here in the Nagelfluhkette Nature Park, a sweeping view opens up across Lake Constance and out into Upper Swabia. On clear days, the lake and the towns along its shore shimmer, with the gently rolling hills rising in the distance. A perfect panoramic stop to breathe deeply, take photos, and enjoy the view.

Camping Hochlitten enjoys a peaceful location on a high plateau and is an ideal starting point for hikes, bike rides, and winter tours around Hochlitten and Riefensberg. Pitches with views of meadows, forests, and mountains provide a true Alpine camping experience. Perfect for those who appreciate being close to nature and having easy access to trails and cross-country ski tracks.

The St. Mary's Spring Chapel is a small place of worship right by a spring, surrounded by woods and meadows. The gentle babbling of the water and the simple chapel invite you to a quiet pause and a moment of reflection. Ideal as a short, atmospheric stop on your hike.

It's outrageous that they forbid walking with a dog on a public, marked hiking trail – just because it crosses the property. An alternative route MUST be found, for example, going around the property instead of directly past the house. Today I simply walked across the meadow – only to discover that dogs are also prohibited on the ridge trail 🙈 Unfortunately, we can't fly. There was NEVER any sign indicating that this is a dead end! I would never recommend this alpine pasture.

This hut completely blocks the hiking trail for dog owners; you can't walk past it and have to turn around. We were coming from the Kojenstein and wanted to pass this alpine pasture on our way to the Imbergbahn cable car. There's no alternative!
