고리스카‬에서 가장 멋진 ‪20‬개의 산길

밝은 숲을 통과하는 아름다운 구불구불한 도로로, 대부분 은은하게 그늘져 있습니다. 쨍쨍한 햇볕 아래에서도 자전거로 오르기에 완벽합니다. 특히 북쪽 면에는 매력적인 자갈길이 있지만 더 이상 최상의 상태는 아닙니다. 로드 바이크부터 전기 자전거까지 모두 문제없습니다. 매우 좁고 시야가 제한적이어서, 차량도 매우 느리고 조심하는 경향이 있습니다. 산길의 엔진 소음은 숲에 빠르게 흡수됩니다. 완벽한 자전거 여행입니다. 남쪽 면은 전체적으로 아스팔트가 매우 잘 되어 있어 빠른 내리막길을 즐겁게 내려갈 수 있습니다. 그럼에도 불구하고, 간혹 발생하는 포트홀/균열과 커브길의 약간의 흙이나 모래 때문에 통제력을 잃을 수 있으므로 당연히 주의가 필요합니다. 고도 변화를 즐기는 사이클리스트에게 Vrsic을 강력히 추천합니다. 특히 북쪽에서 남쪽으로 가는 방향이 좋습니다 (여름철에는 더위 측면에서도 유리할 것입니다). 지금까지의 최고의 산악 패스 경험입니다 (이상적인 조건이었지만). (5월 1일 금요일 정오의 교통량은 상당히 적었습니다. 오후 4시/5시 이후에는 거의 통행이 없었습니다.)

It's better to drive up from Kranjska Gora. The road to Kranjska Gora is in poor condition, and the cobbled hairpin bends aren't fun to ride on a racing bike. The road surface on the other side of the pass is in very good condition.

Beautiful high-altitude trail on the Stol that leads into a rather steep footpath, on which we had to push the bike downhill for a few minutes.

As of June 11, 2025: The road is officially still closed, but you can carry your bike past the snow slab at approximately 1,800 meters. At approximately 1,900 meters, there's another small snowdrift, which is officially closed. There are still boulders on the next 500 meters (route), but you can ride your bike all the way to the top. Great road, especially without motorcycles and cars today!

As of June 4, 2025: The path is blocked by a snowfield behind the last tunnel. The ascent therefore ends approximately 200 meters below the pass at the parking lot before the tunnel. Still worth it!

Hitchhiking back to Soca valley after our hike was very easy.

The pass road was built in 1915-1916 as a military road for Austria-Hungary by Russian prisoners of war. Over 400 of them died in an avalanche in March 1916 alone. On the north side, at about 1200 m above sea level, the Russian chapel built by these Russians commemorates the victims. The road was opened in the second half of 1915 and named Archduke Eugene Road. A large part of the supplies for the major offensive by Austria-Hungary and Germany were transported along this road.

Never a steep descent but with a very broken and irregular surface so MUST DO - indeed - downhill and with caution unless you have an eMTB or a great desire to suffer. Never excessively steep but very long and very demanding on arms, shoulders and concentration. Stop at some hairpin bends to enjoy the wonderful view of the clean and severe outline of the Stol above you and the valley in front of you. Generous coverage here and diacreto manigo (especially if you do it with a gravel, at least 45mm to be on the safe side).
