The area around List is home to Schleswig-Holstein's oldest nature reserve, established in 1923 and a bird paradise. In 1980, the reserve was expanded to its current size. I love Sylt and have known this island since childhood. It is truly a gem, with a distinct beauty in many places, including the old Frisian houses. What you should beware of on Sylt: the stupid and mostly clumsy chic crowd. But anyone who knows Sylt knows how to avoid them.

The seahorse on the Samoa beach represents the island's attitude to life and has been an institution for decades. If you're looking for a relaxing break on your tour, you should visit the "beach kiosk" and sit in one of the beach chairs with an espresso or latte. But be careful: it's easy to get lost here.
