The Eppstein tin foil factory, founded in 1852 by Conrad Sachs, is considered one of the oldest industrial companies in the Taunus region. Originally, lead and tin foil were manufactured in the former Herrenmühle mill, later also aluminum foil and the famous tinsel, which shone in many Christmas decorations from 1905 onwards. Under Josef Heinrich Flach, the company developed into a major employer with over 400 employees. The striking office building at Burgstraße 83, with its Art Nouveau elements, still recalls the heyday of metalworking in Eppstein. After wars and crises, the company underwent several transformations and now operates as EppsteinFOILS GmbH & Co. KG. High-precision metal foils for electronics, medicine, and packaging are produced here.
