The Lion's Head Bridge was dismantled in 1992 and rebuilt in 1993 (it's a listed building). This is evident from the approximately 1 meter of concrete in the lower section. It was necessary because the clearance height was insufficient due to electrification in the 1980s, and the track was lowered, often flooding during rain. It was my construction site in 1993. It's a great place to visit! Regards, EO

St. George's Church is the tallest building in Grabow and is located in the middle of the historic old town. It is a Gothic brick building that was first mentioned in 1291. The church tower with a gable roof, two Gothic, decorated stepped gables and a pointed roof turret with a lantern is unmistakable.

Not only the town hall but also the small harbor is very beautiful. But if you ride a gravel bike or a racing bike or don't have good suspension in general, it's better to push, almost everything in the center of Grabow is cobblestone.

The town of Grabow is located on the Elde in the southwest of Mecklenburg about 40 km southeast of the state capital Schwerin. The city center is located about seven kilometers southeast of the city of Ludwigslust and about seven kilometers northwest of the state border with Brandenburg. It is worth visiting the old town. A lot has already been restored, but there is still a lot to do - but that too has its charm and is worth seeing. The area around the city is very wooded, around 2,500 hectares of the urban area consist of forest. The Old Polish name contains the noun grab, which means beech or hornbeam. The name occurs more frequently in Mecklenburg. It was only slightly changed as Grabowe (1186, 1252, 1275) and Grabow (1189, 1298). After the political change, the historic town center of the half-timbered town with the town hall (1997/98) was fundamentally renovated as part of urban development funding. In 1995, inter alia the harbor wall, until 1998 the town hall was renovated. In 1999 a pedestrian bridge was handed over over the Müritz-Elde-Wasserstraße, and in 2001 the new Rehberger Bridge was built as a lift bridge. Until 2010, the western old town could be built on, partly on a former factory site. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grabow_(Elde)

Even before the great fire of 1725 there was a rifle house in Grabow, but it was demolished because of the danger of collapse. In 1847 the guild decided to build a new rifle house, which was inaugurated with a big party in 1849 thanks to generous donations of gold and goods from the Grabow citizens. The Grabow rifle guild has always had a good relationship with the ducal and Mecklenburg grand ducal houses. The friendly relationships continue to this day, from the Grabow-born Duke Karl Leopold (1678-1747) to Duchess Donata, a granddaughter of His Royal Highness Grand Duke Friedrich Franz IV. In addition to the guild gatherings, the Schützenhaus was already the cultural center of the city. Recurring concerts in the park's pavilion and the Sunday morning pint with brass music were just as much a part of it as theater performances and balls. In 1902 an annex was added to the rifle house and the existing structure was repaired. In 1924 water pipes, sewer systems and electrical lights were connected. After the house had been used by the border police and the Red Army for a few years after the end of World War II, the building and park were returned to the city in 1957. The house was renovated and refurbished with city funds of 150,000 marks and reopened on April 27, 1958 as a cultural center and cultural attraction for the Grabow citizens. further information: https://www.grabow.de/index.php/tourismus/ausflugszüge/179-schuetzenhaus/492-buero-des-buergermeisters-15

"To be distinguished - the Elder Elde, as the Elde and Elde, continuing under the branch of navigation at Eldena, into the Elde side canal - The numerous, in addition to the above Eldena daugeregelten and straightened Elde surviving, often winding parts of the original river (backwater), which are also often called Old Elder. The Eldera coming and today at the Brandenburg Seedorf in Löcknitz ending Old Elde was renatured in 2005 and 2006 in a transnational (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Brandenburg) project. A longer contiguous section of an old waterway can be found north of the waterway east of Lübz near Kuppentin. It is designated as a nature reserve because of the presence of rare animal and plant species and the presence of almost natural water structures. Between Lübz and Parchim the Elder Elde is preserved on several sections partly right, partly left of the waterway. Between the confluence of the Störkanals and Neustadt-Glewe is the Altlauf, there on newer maps sometimes only referred to as Elde, right of the waterway. In Grabow, a piece of Alte Elde flows through the city center as before, and on to Güritz to the left of the waterway. "- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elde#Alte_Elde
