The banks of the Elbe, especially near Stiepelse, have a peace and beauty that captivates cyclists and nature enthusiasts alike. The river covers almost 1,100 kilometers from the source of the Elbe in the Giant Mountains to its mouth in the North Sea. Since the cycle path does not always follow the banks of the Elbe, the Elbe cycle path is approx. 1,270 kilometers long. Not only is this section beautiful 🤫 and it is also important to ask “upstream or downstream” 👍

The Elbe cycle path is truly one of our more beautiful river cycle paths. Definitely a driving recommendation. Not just for this section.

The classic way to cross rivers is still by ferry. You can use the crossing to relax for a bit and/or take a few photos. While you're at it, observe nature and/or chat with the ferrywoman.
