One of the most beautiful passages in the "Green Hell." You have the choice of continuing on the left or going right. We went back again to do both routes.

It's no coincidence that the Bollendorf hiking trail "Green Hell" took second place in Germany's most beautiful hiking trail 2024. As a special treat, the tour is also available as an audio guide app with plenty of additional information.

The medieval castle, built and expanded in four construction periods between 1015 and 1650, with its different architectural styles: Romanesque, Gothic and Renaissance, is 350 years old and has four wings in French Renaissance style.

From up here, you have a beautiful view down to Beaufort Castle. Beaufort Castle, a former moated castle, was built in three different periods and features everything a castle should have: a rampart, a water tower, a dungeon, a pitched nose above the entrance gate, a fountain, a knights' hall, a chapel, and a torture chamber.

green Hell

A beautiful route! It is indicated as easy, but this is not correct. The route is rather moderate/difficult. I felt like figures from The Lord of the Rings were going to appear at any moment 😉
