The history of Beaufort Castle dates back to the 12th century. At that time, the castle was built as a residence for the Lords of Beaufort. After their extinction, the castle changed hands several times. In the 17th century, a palace was finally built above the ruins, which also still stands today.
From the end of the 17th century, the castle was no longer inhabited and gradually fell into disrepair. Renovation work only began in the 20th century, and today the impressive castle complex can be visited.

A wonderfully preserved castle, very winding and countless stairs lead to cellars, towers and numerous rooms. A lot of effort is made to find a good balance between authenticity and preservation. Entry 5 € (as of June 2021)
