A beautiful farm in a magnificent landscape of heaths and moors. Countless sheep, as well as donkeys, welcome visitors.

A large number of smaller and larger areas in the Upper Treene landscape, such as heaths, dry grasslands, moors and renaturalized gravel pits, are grazed all year round by a herd of wandering sheep. The animals ensure that the areas are not overgrown by young trees. This preserves locations for rare plants that need light. Unlike with paddock farming, specific characteristics and requirements of the pastures can be taken into account in a very targeted manner. The herd consists of over 200 white horned Heidschnucken, goats and a donkey. The herd spends most of the nights and the lambing season in the sheep pen. This protects the animals from the weather and the nutrients in the droppings do not get into the soil and groundwater. The Schrobach Foundation had the 1,000 square meter sheep pen built on the southwest edge of the Fröruper Mountains especially for this purpose.

Sankelmarker Lake is a natural body of water from the last ice age, which is now fed by two streams and various springs on the banks and bottom. This constant supply of fresh water has ensured the excellent water quality of the relatively deep, clear lake in recent years. Ideal conditions for fishing at Sankelmarker Lake. Due to the extreme nutrient input from the surrounding agriculture, however, there is an increasingly explosive proliferation of phytoplankton in the summer months, which pollutes the water. It is then also not possible to swim at Sankelmarker Lake. The banks are largely covered with trees and very difficult to reach. There are jetties, but almost all of them belong to private property. A small tour takes you around Lake Sankelmark. Hiking tour "Water experience": The hiker is guided over 4.2 km for around 90 minutes, always directly on the water. Enjoy the special atmosphere of the lake and listen to the sound of the small waves. Seabirds can be observed with the observation telescope. The academy center is also worth a visit.

On the eastern edge of the Fröruper Berge is “Doras Keller”, the cellar of a former home of Dora and Richard Szyza. The two came to the Frörup Mountains after the Second World War and built their home there out of field stones they carved themselves. There was a living room, a bedroom, a kitchen and a pantry and smokehouse. In the 1970s, another floor was built on top of this fieldstone cellar. The former house was now only used as a cellar.
