The remains of an ironworks built in 1701 on land belonging to the Cistercian abbey of Himmerod are located on the site of today's hotel.

The Wiesenteich was created as part of the Bettenfeld land consolidation process (starting in 1995) to relieve the pressure on the Windsborn Crater Lake, with its fragile marsh bean community and diverse dragonfly fauna. It also serves as a local recreation area and attraction for the Bettenfeld residents and tourists from near and far, as well as a fishing spot for the fishing club, which manages and maintains the facility. In addition to the approximately 7,600 m² fishing pond, which is up to 3 m deep, a smaller, approximately 1,000 m² nature conservation pond, which is up to 1 m deep, was also created. The facility can be fed with water from the former Bettenfeld water supply if necessary. The pond is home to the following fish species: carp, roach, rudd, rainbow trout, tench, and zander.

The monastery has something mystical for me and this place offers me peace and contemplation.

We weren't there ourselves, but we were told good food 🍗🥙🥗 and a great wellness area 💆‍♀️💆💆‍♂️🧼 💬

Sauna and swimming in the small lake and after that a delicious meal!

The Hotel Molitors Mühle is a 1.7 km walk from the Himmerod monastery and is idyllically located on the Salm stream and is super quiet, surrounded only by forest and meadows.

The wooden walkways allow every hiker to get very close to the lake. Worth it.
