The rock pond in the Gaisbach Valley was created in the late 1830s. At the initiative and direction of Ernzen pastor Philipp Meyer, the villagers transformed a natural rock formation into the pond. At that time, severe poverty prevailed among the people of the Eifel region. The pastor hired workers from the Ernzen population to develop the gorge and paid their wages out of his own pocket. The pond uses a hydraulic ram to supply water. Since 1979, the municipality of Ernzen, as owner, has maintained and cared for the pond.

A quiet, almost mystical place deep in the forest: The dark pond is nestled between tall trees and overhanging branches, its surface covered with delicate plants. Barely a sound penetrates here, only the gentle rustling of the forest. 💡 Tip: Ideal for a short break – just sit down, breathe deeply, and take in the green reflection of nature.

A beautiful meadow on the Sûre River, clean and modern restrooms, and even sites with electricity. Everything is open, natural, simple, and friendly.

A small pond in the middle of rock faces with niches and caves, fed by the water of a spring and surrounded by terraces, pools, stairs and bridges. Turn a crank and the story of the pond is told.

The interesting Felsenweiher is located near the sports field, somewhat hidden on the outskirts of Ernzen. A visit is highly recommended. A hiking car park is available. Since 2010, a large playground is open for the kids in the parc near the lake of the Sure. A lot of different games are proposed for the fun of your kids, and notably water games, which will cool you pleasantly on hot summer days!
