Built in the early Renaissance period between 1539 and 1543, the Old Town Hall is today the landmark of the city of Weiden. A town hall stood here as early as 1400, but burned down to its foundations in 1536. While the new town hall, subsequently constructed by master builder Hans Nopl, served the administration on the upper floors, the ground floor housed sixteen shops. Since the construction of the New Town Hall in 1978, a city council meeting has been held here only once a year. It is also used for weddings and special receptions. Shops still house the ground floor today. A remarkable carillon chimes daily at 11:35 a.m. and 4:35 p.m.

The Triton Fountain, created in 1953 by Weiden sculptor Josef Gollwitzer, is the showpiece of the Max Reger Gardens. In the center stands a bronze figure of the Greek sea god Triton, with his human upper body and fish-like lower body. In summer, up to 40,000 liters of water per hour flow from the shell the god holds aloft, a Triton's horn.

The old wheel house is a feast for the eyes.

Built between 1539 and 1548 by master builder Hans Nopl, master carpenter Hans Stieber and stonemason Andreas Falk, the Old Town Hall in the centre of Weiden's beautiful old town has lost none of its historical charm thanks to extensive renovation between 1914 and 1917. The beamed ceiling in the large meeting room is particularly impressive, a work of craftsmanship from the 16th century. A special feature of the building's facade is the sonorous carillon facing the Upper Market, which has been delighting the people of Weiden musically since 1983. Every day at 11:35 a.m. and 4:35 p.m. you can hear a selection of songs from the repertoire of 99 works. The Old Town Hall used to serve not only as an administrative building, but was also the centre of social life in the town. Many theatre and dance events also took place here.

Triton Fountain The Triton fountain can also be found here, which was created in 1953 by the Weiden sculptor Josef Gollwitzer. It is the showpiece in the Max Reger complex. A bronze figure of the Greek sea goddess Triton with her human upper body and fish-like abdomen forms the focus of the fountain.
