Beautiful old bridge

The late Gothic hall church was largely built between 1510 and 1518 under the Mainz cathedral master builder Johann von Hattstein, succeeding a Romanesque church first mentioned in 1146. After the western towers, dating back to the Romanesque period, were demolished in 1829 due to dilapidation, the Geisenheim-born master builder Philipp Hoffmann undertook a neo-Gothic reconstruction from 1834 to 1838. In addition to the construction of the now 46-meter-high towers, the vaulting of the nave was altered. The building was given the name "cathedral" due to its size and importance compared to other churches in the region. It was never the seat of a bishop.

The great bike paths are before and after this section, which is more or less a forest path. Something for gravel enthusiasts.
