Two regional train lines run from Felde station, with the following connections: • RE74: Runs hourly between Kiel Hbf – Rendsburg – Husum. • RB75: Serves the Kiel Hbf – Rendsburg route with additional stops in Kiel-Russee, Melsdorf, Achterwehr, Bredenbek, and Schülldorf. Both lines are operated by Nordbahn and usually run every half hour. The journey time to Kiel is approximately 15–20 minutes.

The Westensee Nature Park is characterized by glacial moraine landscapes, hills, valleys, moors, and lakes. The Felder Holz is a typical example: a small forest area with many small lakes. Here, at the northern edge of the forest, lies such a lake, offering ideal conditions for herons and geese.
