What a shame! Unfortunately, many of these trees fell during the last storm. There are still a few left, but the trees at Westensee are truly beautiful.

If you follow the track plate path between Gut Manhagen & Pohlsee, you will pass this small bay with a small bench that invites you to linger and take a break with a beautiful view of the Pohlsee.

The Westensee Nature Park lies between Kiel, Rendsburg, and Neumünster. Nestled amidst the region's typical hedgerow landscape, you'll find babbling brooks, tranquil lakes, refreshing forests, and expansive meadows. The Großer Schierensee is a lake in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district in the German federal state of Schleswig-Holstein, northwest of the town of Schierensee. The lake is approximately 50 hectares in size and up to 11.7 m deep. It is described by the Schleswig-Holstein Ministry of the Environment as a calcareous, stratified lowland lake with a relatively large catchment area.[1] The stratified lake belongs to the Obereider and Kiel Canal water systems.

The tree produces its first acorns after about 50 years. After 100 years, two people can barely reach around the trunk, which is now 18 to 20 meters tall. At this point, the oak is largely at its full height. However, the same cannot be said for its trunk diameter.
