The windmill at Gut Manhagen (built in 1832, source: Gut Manhagen) is a historic smock mill and part of the listed estate complex in the Westensee Nature Park. The mill stands on the estate grounds and is not readily visible from public footpaths, thus appearing as a rather hidden testament to the region's agricultural heritage.

Mangalitza pigs, also known as Mangalica, are an old Hungarian breed of pig dating back to the 19th century. Their densely curled, almost woolly coat is striking, giving them a more sheep-like appearance than that of typical domestic pigs. These animals are robust, well-adapted to free-range farming, and slow-growing. Their meat is highly marbled and very fatty, which gives it an intense flavor. Therefore, Mangalitza pigs are primarily valued for high-quality products such as ham, bacon, and salami, rather than lean cuts. After nearly disappearing at one point, the breed is now being selectively bred again – as a conscious alternative to industrial pig farming.

Rustic Wooden Cabins & Romantic Tent • Stay overnight in the heart of the park, right next to the meadows – simple cabins with mattresses and sheets, but no heating or electricity. A shared kitchen, toilet, and showers are approximately 300 meters away. • Ideal for nature-based camping: bring your own sleeping bags, flashlights, and sleeping gear. Minimum stay: 2 nights. Entry prices for adults: approximately €27.50. Children from approximately €16.50 per night (depending on age, starting from 18 months). • The Romantic Tent is specially designed for 2 adults, without electricity or heating. Price: approximately €120 per night for a minimum stay of 2 nights, including admission.

Here you can spend the night, have a campfire in the evening, and enjoy the park after the gates are closed to day visitors. You can also use the nearby restrooms and kitchen. 👍🏻
