One of the most beautiful waterfalls I know 😍. If you continue the hike to the right, you can see the waterfall from above 😊.

The largest waterfall in Saxony and one of the highest German waterfalls outside the Alps is located in the immediate vicinity of Blauenthal. This former site of a flour and board mill was bought by Andreas Blau around 1530 and converted into a hammer mill. After the First World War, the owner of the paper factory had a new ditch dug above a steep rock face in order to use the water to drive his turbines. On Sundays and public holidays, the machines stood still and the water rushed down into the valley.

The panoramic view from the dam wall over the forests is simply picturesque. Great place for hikes around the dam.

...then the system received an automatic control system for the raw water. In 2001, after reunification, the newly founded dam administration installed a new ventilation system that can supply pure oxygen. The final water treatment takes place at the Sosa waterworks. The reservoir has a volume of 5.94 million m³ and can hold up to 6.33 million m³ up to the overflow at the dam wall.

The Eispinge was created by the mining of the Georg ore vein. There is often ice in the Pinge until late summer.

Ice Pine: This chasm is very narrow and deep, so there are no air currents in it. The cold, heavy air sinks in winter and stays there in summer. This creates the "HöhleNeid", which does not melt even in summer. After the Battle of the Nations near Leipzig (1813), 6 loads of ice were extracted from here for the treatment of the wounded. If you look down from the Plattenberg, you can see the remains of the mine.
