One of the most beautiful waterfalls I know 😍. If you continue the hike to the right, you can see the waterfall from above 😊.

The largest waterfall in Saxony and one of the highest German waterfalls outside the Alps is located in the immediate vicinity of Blauenthal. This former site of a flour and board mill was bought by Andreas Blau around 1530 and converted into a hammer mill. After the First World War, the owner of the paper factory had a new ditch dug above a steep rock face in order to use the water to drive his turbines. On Sundays and public holidays, the machines stood still and the water rushed down into the valley.

The dam was built between 1948 and 1951. After the founding of the GDR, the dam was called the “Dam of Peace”. It was the first so-called "central youth facility" of the newly founded state on October 7, 1949. Source: http://www.sosa-online.de/geschichte.html

The panoramic view from the dam wall over the forests is simply picturesque. Great place for hikes around the dam.

The lookout tower on the Plattenberg is the youngest of the four lookout towers in the Czech part of the central Ore Mountains. Its establishment was credited to the Horni Blatna Winter Sports Club, which wanted to build a tourist and ski center near the town. Construction began in 1912 based on the plans of Cheb architect Karl Matusch. Even before the start of the winter season, the Berghotel with restaurant and viewing tower was officially opened on July 5 of the following year. The observation tower was named Zita-Aussicht in honor of Archduchess and future last Austrian Empress Zita Maria delle Grazie of Bourbon-Parma. ...then the system received an automatic control system for the raw water. In 2001, after reunification, the newly founded dam administration installed a new ventilation system that can supply pure oxygen. The final water treatment takes place at the Sosa waterworks. The reservoir has a volume of 5.94 million m³ and can hold up to 6.33 million m³ up to the overflow at the dam wall.
