Beautiful landscape park especially for animals

It's worth a trip here. A few years ago, the municipality of Bad Zwischenahn rebuilt the footbridge. Before that, there was a very narrow footbridge.

The Ellernteich is a real curiosity - because this pond was created twice. The Grand Duke of Oldenburg, Peter Friedrich Ludwig, had a park built here in Rastede next to his summer residence. His son and successor, Paul Friedrich August, expanded the park in the style of an English landscape park. In the course of this, the local lowland, which was covered with alders, known in Low German as Ellern, was converted into a fish pond in 1842. How complex the undertaking was can be seen from the fact that the pond was only completed 9 years later, in 1848. When it was completed, a new line of sight was created from the castle across the Ellern and Mühlenteich ponds to the water mill.

Description The lake was created in the early 1970s by removing soil for the construction of the A 28. It takes its name from the Wold forest area, which adjoins the lake. The lake is used as a bathing and fishing lake. In some places it has a natural shore with reed areas and bushes. On the west bank there is a sandy beach, in front of which a shallow water zone has been created as a non-swimmer area. The non-swimmer area is separated from the rest of the lake, which in some places drops steeply to a depth of 14 meters, by a chain of floating buoys. During the bathing season, when the weather is good, water supervision is provided by the DLRG local association in Bad Zwischenahn. A circular path runs around the lake. Part of the east bank is designated as a nudist area. The Oldenburg-Leer railway line runs between Woldsee and the A 28, Woldsee is located directly south of the railway line. North of the Woldsee between the railway line and the motorway there is a second quarry lake.

The jetty in Rostrup is a beautiful vantage point for the Zwischenahner Meer. From here you can enjoy a trip with the White Fleet. Just a few minutes' walk away you will find the renovated jetty at the bathing area in Rostrup. The fishing port is also in the immediate vicinity.
