The jetty in Rostrup is a beautiful vantage point for the Zwischenahner Meer. From here you can enjoy a trip with the White Fleet. Just a few minutes' walk away you will find the renovated jetty at the bathing area in Rostrup. The fishing port is also in the immediate vicinity.

Great circular route, easy to cycle and with plenty of small swimming spots. Especially beautiful in summer.

From the Rostrup ferry dock you can not only take a great boat tour, you also have a wonderful view over the Zwischenahner Meer.

From here you have a beautiful view over the lake. Unfortunately it is almost always occupied.

Rostrup jetty There is a footbridge along the sea circular path. The jetty offers a beautiful view over the sea. From here you can experience wonderful sunsets. The DLRG also starts its missions from here.

The Zwischenahner Meer is located above a salt dome as a remnant of the Zechstein Sea from the Permian period around 250 million years ago. It was created when groundwater-related salt leaching led to a collapse of the salt dome and the overlying overburden. The Zwischenahner Meer was formed in the cavity created in this way. Further examples of bodies of water created by sinkholes include the Sager Meer, the Maujahn Moor, the Arendsee and the Seeburger See. These lakes are characterized by a great depth in relation to their diameter. However, the Zwischenahner Meer is quite shallow and appears rather atypical. However, steeper edges can be found on the Zwischenahner and Rostrup banks. However, they are heavily blurred by the thick layer of sludge. In 1949, drilling was carried out to detect a salt dome, the result of which was a map with the location of the salt dome located under the lake.

The Z Zwischenahner Meer is a lake in the municipality of Bad Zwischenahn in the Ammerland district in Lower Saxony. It lies between the main town of Bad Zwischenahn in the south and the district of Dreibergen in the north. The lake is also known as the Pearl of the Ammerland. The name Zwischenahner Meer only became established at the beginning of the 19th century; before that, the lake was called “Elmendorfer” or “Ammersches Meer”.
