The Moorhauser Polder is a flood polder that stores the flood waters of the Hunte. This year the water is particularly high due to the rainfall of the last few months. You could tell from the drift on the grass that it wasn't a meter higher. The Moorhauser Polder is an El Dorado for water birds. This year 15,000 barnacle geese and 10,000 white-fronted geese rest here. It is a spectacle when they fly in in the evening with loud cries and then fly off again in the morning to look for food.

Over time, Varel harbor has undergone many changes, but its romance has remained. Today, the harbor is a colorful mixture of moorings for private pleasure boats, the home port of individual fishing boats, a location for commercial enterprises and a tourist attraction. Boat dock in Dreibergen The boat dock in Dreibergen offers a wonderful view of the Zwischenahner Meer. From here you can take a trip with the White Fleet. This goes around the Zwischenahner Meer and stops at the boat dock in the town center and at the boat dock in the Rostrup district. You can also set out into the sea in Dreibergen on a pedal boat. The Renken boat rental is located just a few meters from the boat dock, as is the bathing area.
