The mansion Vietgest is a mansion in Vietgest in the district of Rostock. The baroque-style building was built from 1792 to 1794 according to designs by Johann Friedrich Busch for Johann Friedrich Boldt. The Vietgest estate has been owned by the Oldenburg family since the 15th century. Johann Friedrich Boldt became the owner of Gut Vietgest and other estates in the area in 1786. A little later he had his brick mansion built. In 1819 Boldt's heirs sold the estate and house for 246,000 Reichstaler to Cornelius Freiherr von Herzeele († 1830). [2] Two-thirds of the price was earmarked for the manor house. The estate inventory was auctioned from June 16 to 18, 1819. There was also a livestock with 50 horses, 54 oxen, 220 cows and four bulls. In 1841, Prince Georg Wilhelm zu Schaumburg-Lippe, who already owned large properties in the area (including in Gülzow, from 1896 also in Krümmel), bought the estate. The house Schaumburg-Lippe, whose real estate in Mecklenburg totaled 6668 hectares, held the property until its expropriation in 1945. The house was used as a holiday home for the CDU after the Second World War. The first restoration work was carried out between 1985 and 1990, after which it was renovated and used as a hotel. In April 2013 it was bought by forester and farmer Anders Tind Kristensen, who was already renovating the nearby Lübsee manor (also in the municipality of Lalendorf) and using it as a house. [3] The castle is now again for sale (2019). To the south of the manor house is a large baroque park that stretches to Lake Ziest. (Source Wikipedia)

The walkway and the rest of the parkland are very wild, but you can still imagine the former beauty of the park. In the adjacent forest, the attentive hiker will find a few impressive tree giants.
