Here arrives the "Cime Bianche Laghi" cable car that leaves from the town of Cervinia and begins to wind the fun bike park. You can have fun on the trails in the presence of the Matterhorn and the majestic peaks that keep it company. A truly unique panorama!

We stayed at the Rifugio Teodulo for one night as part of our mountaineering training course. Very friendly hosts and good food. They are also pretty good for sleeping quarters. However, we were more than disappointed by the sparse breakfast. Before climbing a 4000m peak, you want more than two cookies 😅

It is worth climbing up to this place, crossing the meadows of the long slope that ends at Lake Goillet. The Matterhorn and the Grandes Murailles frame the landscape majestically. The pass is a wide independent space, suspended in the heights and enclosed by the Cime Bianche as if they were a curtain. In front, the lakes rise up to the base of the Rosa glacier, with strong blue tones that become more and more intense as the water descends.

The Teodulo Refuge is a refuge located in the municipality of Valtournenche, in the Aosta Valley, at an altitude of 3317 m. at the open pass in the Pennine Alps, on the Italian-Swiss border, between the Matterhorn and the Monte Rosa massif. The original refuge was built in 1852 and was the first refuge in the Alps, with the name Rifugio Albergo Colle del Teodulo; it was used as a hiking and mountaineering base for the surrounding peaks and for skiing on the glacier. It was made of larch wood and stone, obtained from some disused fortifications built by Duke Amedeo II in 1688. The refuge was then sold to the Italian Alpine Club in 1915. The current shelter was built in 1920 and extensively renovated thereafter. Inaugurated with the name of "Rifugio Principe di Piemonte", today instead called Rifugio del Teodulo.
