Built in wood in 1544 it was subsequently rebuilt in stone (1574) after the collapse. The bridge we see today was raised in 1630, apparently too low for bulky transportation along the waterway.

The Canale Villoresi cycle path crosses the Lombardy countryside, skirting the entire stretch of the Canale Villoresi, the historic waterway created for the irrigation of fields at the end of the nineteenth century by the engineer Eugenio Villoresi.
