An island with a moving history.

The elevated, covered terrace is located on the waterfront. Regional and seasonal dishes are offered, including fish, daily specials, and much more. Cakes and ice cream are available in the afternoon, and a separate dinner menu is available in the evening. The beer garden, located right by the boat dock, rounds out the offerings.

If, like me, you come from a region where there are streams instead of rivers, the sight of a cargo ship in a lock is always something special.🙋

This avenue was planted in 1913 in the Hagenburg Palace Gardens with 1,000 rhododendrons and is surrounded by an avenue of bald cypresses. The double avenue is 400 metres long and in front of it is a 50-metre long avenue of columnar oaks.

The history of the barn district goes back to 1756. The barns were built as drive-through barns to store farmers' hay and straw. Grain was threshed and hay was dried on the square. Since 1871 the square has also been a festival site, as it still is today.
