The old railway line is scenically beautiful and it's very good for cycling.

Great bike path on the old railway line between Harrienstedt and Uchte. It's a leisurely 24km ride. Only a few intersections slow you down. The asphalt is excellent!

Beautiful little town on the Weser

This small rest area on the bike path west of Jössen has something special: The view isn't directed toward the Weser River, but toward the largest and oldest stork nest for miles around, the stork's nest perched on the trunk of an old ash tree at Humke Farm. Storks have been breeding here regularly since 1896, and the current, imposing nest has been standing for a proud 90 years (1933). You'll need binoculars or a large telephoto lens to watch the storks "at work." But if you're lucky, they might be active in the meadow in front of the nest. This place is a must-see for all stork lovers!

An individual city tour in the historic center leads through pretty streets with many half-timbered buildings to Petershagen Castle, which Bishop Gottfried von Waldeck originally had built here as a moated castle.
