We were lucky enough to spend time there today.

Asphalted high-altitude trail with beautiful views of the Haardt mountain range between Roschbach and Flemlingen.

This artwork, entitled "To See Beyond," is part of the "St. Martin Art Trail" and dates from 2023. "London-based artist Tim Norris draws inspiration from the surrounding landscape and, wherever possible, uses local natural materials in combination with constructed elements. As a harmonious symbiosis of landscape and art, the work invites visitors to enjoy the expansive view across the Rhine plain. It consists of an inner layer of stretched canvas, which offers protection and shade to the seated figure, while the outer layer of local vine tendrils alludes to the surrounding wine region. 'To See Beyond' translates to 'to see beyond.' We can interpret this as the view across the Rhine plain or, philosophically, as the perspective from the present into the future." The German Gate – also known as the Lower Gate, formerly called the Porte d’Allemagne – is a structure in Landau in der Pfalz. It is a listed building. It marks the northern end of the old town and is located at Neustadter Straße 2. Immediately to the south are Untertorplatz (Lower Gate Square) and the war memorial. The gate, built between 1688 and 1691, together with its southern counterpart – the French Gate – forms one of two remaining sections of the main wall of the Landau fortress. Until well into the 19th century, it was only one of two ways to enter or leave the city. Partly because this became an increasing obstacle after the opening of the Neustadt–Wissembourg railway line and the city's train station, the fortress was abandoned in 1871, and another, eastern entrance was created in the form of what is now Ostbahnstraße (East Railway Street). The structure is a Baroque building featuring a gateway and a three-aisled hall facing the town. It is also adorned with tympanum reliefs. Wachtenburg Castle, located above Wachenheim on the Wine Route, offers impressive views over the Rhine plain, the vineyards, and the villages of the Mittelhaardt region all the way to the Odenwald. Built around the 12th century, the castle ruins are well preserved and freely accessible, with information panels about its history and a small castle tavern that invites you to rest and relax. The climb along the Wachtenburg Trail or through the vineyards is short but rewarding, and rewards with one of the most beautiful panoramic views in the Palatinate region – particularly atmospheric at sunset or during the grape harvest.

It's worth taking a look at the Lauter from the many bridges. The perspectives are always different.
