La Maison De L'écurie Great canal-side restaurant at the junction of the Canal Robine & Canal du Midi. A bit rustic but plenty of seating. It was very popular when we were there and a lot of people with bikes. There is a full menu, we only had the starters which was enough to refuel back to the Château Capitoul (salad with pulled pork and mi-cuit tuna with Korean salad). No cheap, but good with friendly service. Definitely to be recommended if biking on the EV8 around Narbonne.

The old unused railway bridge over the l'Aude is a real adventure. The bridge has not been used for a long time, but can be used by pedestrians and bikers. It immediately creates a Wild West atmosphere.

For the crossing from time to time, the SNCF blocks the passage with fences or others, but it is quickly reopened by people who are responsible for freeing access. We can't wait for the SNCF to release the ownership of this bridge so that the municipalities can make it a greenway.

On one side there are indeed very steep steps but passing on the other side there is a concrete stone ramp which makes it easier to access it than the steep staircase.

I would have loved to cross this bridge but you have to climb very steep steps with panniers, it's impossible to carry without taking everything down, but especially when you get to the top there are barbed wire, a railway line and lots of signs prohibiting passage. .. maybe it's new?

The junction canal is a French waterway that connects the Canal du Midi to the Canal de la Robine via the Aude. It is the link between the Canal du Midi and Narbonne then Port-la-Nouvelle. A very nice setting to take a break
