In Althof, the ruins of the old monastery barn, a Cistercian building, are worth exploring. It is considered the oldest monastery agricultural building in Mecklenburg. A few meters further on, a chapel rises, which owes its current appearance to a 19th-century renovation of the old building. A gravestone commemorates Woizlawa, the wife of the Wendish prince Pribislav, who is buried here.

The tower houses three bells, the oldest and smallest of which is a bronze bell cast in 1627. Two further bronze bells had to be handed over for war purposes in 1918 and were replaced in 1923 by two cast iron bells.

Inside the church, the dome vault contains 14th-century frescoes that were discovered and restored in 1899. The women painted in the choir vault depict the parable of the wise and foolish virgins. On the east wall of the nave is a solitary painting of the Deposition from the Cross, and in the choir arch opposite the pulpit is a depiction of the Flagellation of Jesus.

Lands that Pribislaw donated to the Doberan Monastery upon its founding in 1171. The church was established by the monastery shortly thereafter. Around 1300, Rabenhorst (Rethwisch) temporarily belonged to the parish. On April 7, 1333, Duke Albrecht II granted the monastery jurisdiction over Parkentin. The church belonged to the monastery's archdeaconry until 1552. After the secularization and dissolution of the monastery, the site came under the ducal domain. The first Protestant pastor appointed by the duke, not the abbot, was Brand Meseke in 1557.

The Parkentin Village Church is the church of the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Parkentin-Hanstorf in Bartenshagen-Parkentin in the Rostock district. The parish belongs to the Rostock provostship in the Mecklenburg church district of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany (Nordkirche).

The Detlefsen fishing farm is located near Bad Doberan. The ponds formerly belonged to the Cistercian monastery and were leased out at the beginning of the 20th century. And of course, enjoy delicious fish at the on-site restaurant.

The Hanseatenweg is a hiking and cycling path connecting the Hanseatic cities of Hamburg and Szczecin. It is intended to commemorate the importance of the Hanseatic League in the Middle Ages and the early modern period and promote European cooperation. It was initiated by a project of the Northern Regional Association of the German Friends of Nature.

The first monastery in what is now Doberan was founded on this site in 1171. It only existed for a few years. In 1186 the monastery was founded on the site of the present-day cathedral in Doberan. The origins of the chapel here date back to the 14th century. However, the chapel was given its current appearance in the 19th century by Möckel.
