Since 1987, the Wiesbaden Youth Workshop has managed the Mechtildshausen estate. This traditional farm, whose roots reach back to the 12th century, is now run as an educational institution where crafts can be learned from the ground up.

Eltville is unjustly less well known than Rüdesheim among those unfamiliar with the Rheingau region; the closed building structure of old half-timbered houses makes Eltville a gem.

The "Fähnchenkreuz" (more commonly called "Fähncheskreuz") is a well-known wayside cross and industrial monument in the region, though it is not located directly in Ingelheim, but in the neighboring Mainz-Kostheim (Wiesbaden). Compact information about the Fähncheskreuz History: The original stone wayside cross was erected in 1697 at an old crossroads on Steigweg. Its name derives from a distinctive metal weather vane attached to the top of the cross. The base: The current solid Baroque base dates from 1783 and was donated by the then mayor, Franz Kaltenbach. Archaeological find: In 1895, the upper half of a Roman gravestone belonging to a soldier from the 1st century AD was discovered beneath the cross, indicating a long history of settlement at this location (near the Roman Castellum Mattiacorum). Significance today: It is considered a landmark of Kostheim and serves as a popular viewpoint in the Rhine-Main Regional Park.
