The "Fähnchenkreuz" (more commonly called "Fähncheskreuz") is a well-known wayside cross and industrial monument in the region, though it is not located directly in Ingelheim, but in the neighboring Mainz-Kostheim (Wiesbaden).
Compact information about the Fähncheskreuz
History: The original stone wayside cross was erected in 1697 at an old crossroads on Steigweg. Its name derives from a distinctive metal weather vane attached to the top of the cross.
The base: The current solid Baroque base dates from 1783 and was donated by the then mayor, Franz Kaltenbach.
