The Rötzenberg near Gossersweiler in the Southern Palatinate district of Weinstraße is a 459.1 m above sea level mountain in the northern Wasgau region of the Palatinate Forest. Numerous red sandstone rock formations are found on it. The Rötzenberg is located in the Palatinate Forest Nature Park, a typical Wasgau conical hill in the northern part of the Dahner Felsenland and the Wasgauer Felsenland. Its summit rises 1.1 km west-southwest of Gossersweiler, the larger district of the municipality of Gossersweiler-Stein, to whose district the mountain belongs. North of the almost entirely forested mountain rises the Triebborn stream, which drains via the Rimbach into the Queich, a tributary of the Rhine. To the south, the Klingbach stream flows directly into the Rhine plain and flows into the Rhine via the Michelsbach. The most important rock formations of the Rötzenberg are the Isselmannsteine on the north side and the imposing Rötzenfels south of the summit, which reaches a considerable height of up to 55 meters. From the rocky plateau, which can be climbed via a hiking trail (Dimbacher Buntsandstein-Höhenweg), there are excellent views to the south over the entire Wasgau region, with the Lindelbrunn ruins in the foreground, as well as to the northeast to the Rehberg, the Ebersberg, the Asselstein, and the Reichsburg Trifels. The Rötzenberg can be reached via marked hiking trails from the east, such as the Staudernheim–Soultz-sous-Forêts long-distance trail from Gossersweiler, from the north from Dimbach, and from the south from Lindelbrunn. It is traversed by the "Dimbacher Buntsandstein-Höhenweg" circular hiking trail, which was certified as a premium trail by the German Hiking Institute and inaugurated in 2013. "The Church of St. Philip and St. James was first mentioned in 1349. [...] The oldest part of the church is the tower, which formerly housed the choir and now houses the baptistery. It dates back to the early 16th century or earlier. The new church was added to the tower in 1782. [...] During the reconstruction in 1966-67 [...] the nave was significantly extended to the south, and the chancel on the north wall in the former nave was given a modern design. [...] A further renovation took place in 1987." Further information: www.sternenweg.net At the church, there is a small green area with a "missionary cross" (1888), a neo-baroque former high altar stone, and a small Lourdes grotto, next to which there are also two benches.

Until 1933 (= consecration of Christ the King Church), St. Bartholomew's Church was the parish church of the Catholic Church in Hauenstein. It is therefore also called the "Old Church" today. Information board at the church reads: "Built in 1787/88 on the site of the earlier, smaller parish church [from the late Middle Ages]; the neoclassical church tower was added in 1826/27; at the same time, the nave was extended. Extensive renovations took place from 1993 to 1996." In front of the main entrance of St. Bartholomew's Church stands a wayside cross belonging to the Ritter family, dating from 1903, surrounded by a small hedge. Inscription: "O, all you who pass by, take heed! See if there is any pain like my pain." (Verses from the Lamentations of the Old Testament) Source: Wayside Cross No. 11 of the flyer about the "Hauensteiner Flurkreuze-Weg" (Hauenstein Field Cross Trail) https://hauenstein.de/wp-content/uploads/Flyer_Hauensteiner-Flurkreuzweg_web.pdf
