The town of Hauenstein developed in the late 19th century. an important shoe production in which almost all of Hauenstein's residents worked until the 1960s. Then this era slowly came to an end. The shoemaker's monument on Lorenz-Wingerter-Platz in the center of the town is a reminder of the heyday."
