現在、アムトハウスは個人所有となっています。その基礎は、まさにこの場所にあった城、すなわち地名の由来となったフンテブルクにまで遡ります。それはフンテ川の元の流れのほとりにありましたが、その流れは今ではほとんど干上がった川床でしかうかがい知ることができません。同様に、城の堀も完全に乾いています。しかし、フンテブルクで最も古い建造物はここに現存しています。それは城の堀にかかるアーチ橋です。

The varied landscape of the former Wittlage district is rich in charm. Streams originate in the densely wooded ridges of the Wiehen Hills, flowing north into a fertile plain. In the border zone between the hills and the North German Plain, they drive the wheels of old stone or half-timbered mills. The water-rich Hunte River is crossed by bridges, some of which are medieval, with rounded arches built of silvery limestone. In the north of the district, the Hunte flows through the moors and meadows of a large, silted-up lake, the Dümmer. Its extensive nature reserve is home to rare flora and fauna.

Smaller private boats can be launched here. You can also experience the nice differences in the "skills" of the boatmen.

The lake was created from a sand and gravel pit operated by the building materials manufacturer quick-mix in 1964. Its name is derived from the Low German term for cranes.[
