The 11.11-hectare nature reserve was declared a protected area on November 24, 1989.[1] The nature reserve consists of areas of Flur 22 of Oberhöchstadt. The protected area is a meadow valley with numerous rare, some endangered, plant species. The aim of designating the area is the extensive use of the green spaces to protect these species. To prevent bush encroachment, the forestry department regularly prunes alders and other deciduous trees.[2]

The Bürgelplatte is a rock formation in the Taunus near Kronberg and offers a great viewing point. It is a popular destination for hikers and nature lovers.

In the middle of the forest is this staircase—called Bürgelplatte. It's a perfect spot to have your photo taken on the stairs. 😉
