The 11.11-hectare nature reserve was declared a protected area on November 24, 1989.[1] The nature reserve consists of areas of Flur 22 of Oberhöchstadt. The protected area is a meadow valley with numerous rare, some endangered, plant species. The aim of designating the area is the extensive use of the green spaces to protect these species. To prevent bush encroachment, the forestry department regularly prunes alders and other deciduous trees.
