What justifies this as a “highlight”?

This is the only ferry across the Elbe-Lübeck Canal. It connects the communities of Siebeneichen and Fitzen. Even if you don't actually have to cross to the other side, the crossing is worth it for the experience alone. Especially since the ferry is free, but a donation is requested. The cable ferry runs on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 10am to 6pm from approximately 1 April to 3 October

As is the case along the entire Elbe-Lübeck Canal, here in Büchen there is an "endlessly long", beautiful hiking trail along the canal, which is also very suitable for cycling.

The music school offers music lessons for children and adults in Büchen and the surrounding area. It also supports the musical all-day school area of the Büchen community and primary school.
