A beautiful section of the Palatinate Keschdeweg (Palace Keschde Trail) through light deciduous forests between Madenburg and Eschbach. Many sweet chestnut trees line the trail – this is a great place to pick chestnuts in the fall. This trail is named after the sweet chestnut tree (Castanea sativa, also known as Marone), which was already planted in this area in Roman times. It is 61.2 km long and runs in four suggested stages from Hauenstein to Neustadt an der Weinstraße.
