約1700人の住民が暮らすザンクト・マルティンは、マイカマー連合自治体に属し、南ワイン街道沿いのプファルツの森の端に直接位置しています。穏やかでほとんど地中海性の気候は、最高級ワインだけでなく、イチジク、アーモンド、栗の栽培も可能にしています。数多くのワイナリーと伝統的なワイン酒場が町の景観を形作っています。この町は中世の雰囲気を保っています。狭い路地、歴史的な木組みの家々、聖マルティン教区教会が、雰囲気のある環境を作り出しています。

The Old Castle is a listed half-timbered building in Sankt Martin. The two Renaissance residential buildings of the Schneider family were built by Johann Christoph Hund von Saulheim and remodeled in the Baroque style in the 18th century. The two residential buildings facing the street, with their rear outbuildings, form a square separated by the courtyard. The renovation or addition of additional outbuildings has lost the clarity of the layout, and a newer style has become intertwined with the older style. Today, the Old Castle is one of the attractions in the wine-growing village of Sankt Martin.
