A very beautiful old Gothic building in the heart of Greifswald.

The listed old post office building on the market square is being converted into a technical town hall. A new building will expand the town hall into a modern office complex for the city administration and the citizens' office.

One of the most beautiful places in Greifswald is the former fish market in the center of the old town. It is a popular meeting place in the Hanseatic city, and locals, city visitors and vacationers alike appreciate spending time in this area with its unmistakable charm of bygone times.

The Hanseatic League once brought prosperity to the cities, Sweden and Prussia left their mark and the imperial spas on the coast attracted celebrities: Pomerania's past is exciting and varied. The exhibition in the Pomeranian State Museum is divided into several areas, starting with the history of the earth. Visitors can marvel at amber that is millions of years old and find out how the most recent ice age in Pomerania created a landscape with chalk formations and cliffs.

The fish market is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful squares in Greifswald. The focal point is the fish fountain, which was inaugurated in 2000 and is intended to remind people of the previous use of the square. There are several restaurants and cafés here and the fish market is a popular meeting place. Part of the Christmas market is also located here at Christmas time. The fish market is not actually a square in its own right, but rather a part of the Greifswald market square!
