A permanent exhibition, opened in April 2017, provides information about the life and work of the monks, as well as historical discovery and monument preservation efforts. The wooden bridge, built in 2001, spans the Werbellin Canal between Eichhorst and Lake Werbellin. On the right side, toward the lake, there are a few beautiful trails.

Most of the paths along or toward Lake Werbellin are paved, but for some trails you have to go into the forest.

That's right 🙋♂️ It's a great bike path. I highly recommend it. Be careful of the narrow sections. Attention ⚠️ signs painted on the asphalt. 🚵♂️

The approximately 280-meter-long and 90-meter-wide forest lake is approximately five meters deep at its deepest point. It is located in the northern part of the "Sonnenburger Wald und Ahrendskehle" nature reserve. Formerly called the Black Pond, it was renamed the Devil's Lake almost 200 years ago. As part of the Hammerthal valley, there are many stories about the lake. Today, you can find numerous beaver tracks around the lake and several beaver lodges. A lawn invites you to linger, and the lake itself, of course, is a great place to cool off.

The Eberswalde City Lock is the oldest lock in Germany still in operation. It was built in 1831 and renovated in 2001 in accordance with historic preservation regulations. The original steel and wooden lock gates were reworked and reinstalled. The lock is a listed technical monument and part of the historic lock system on the Finow Canal. A boat dock is located directly at the lock. The terraced waterfront promenade invites you to take a break near the historic old town center.
