The moor covers an area of approximately 379 hectares. Peat extraction and drainage have significantly altered the moor. However, it wasn't only the extraction of fuel peat that caused large areas of the moor to disappear, but also its conversion to arable land and grassland. Restoration measures have been carried out since 1980, including closing the drainage ditches within the moor.

From the slightly elevated viewing platform, the Fockbek Moor and its inhabitants can be discovered.

Forests, moors and extensive lowlands determine the landscape. As a spacious and open landscape with its moors and wet meadows, it offers a final refuge for many endangered animal and plant species.

The Fockbeker Moor is a 379 hectare nature reserve in the Schleswig-Holstein communities of Fockbek and Hohn in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district. It protects a raised bog on the edge of terminal moraines directly to the east. The moor has been greatly changed by drainage and peat removal.

Beautiful moor, partly accessible by bike. You should stay on the paths on foot. Mosquitoes can be expected at any time in spring and summer;))
