The Westensee Nature Park lies between Kiel, Rendsburg, and Neumünster. Nestled amidst the region's typical hedgerow landscape, you'll find babbling brooks, tranquil lakes, refreshing forests, and expansive meadows. It has now happened: large sections of the path, which ran directly along the edge, have collapsed, taking numerous trees with them. Part of it has been cordoned off with barrier tape – which is now quite damaged. A narrow alternative path runs alongside the original one. It is very sad and frightening, but walkable – however, definitely not recommended for strollers or people with mobility impairments!

On one side the Flemhuder See, on the other side the Achterwehrer shipping canal 😊...

Status November 2020: Unfortunately, the small green wooden bridge has been replaced by a white iron bridge.

Nice place for a little break by the lake.

Floods can sometimes get wet feet. The bridge can then hardly be reached from the west side (from Marutendorf). The water is on and off the path. For me it then ran from above into the hiking boots ...

Very varied NSG, lots of birds to watch, nature is very different.
