Warnemünde's sandy beach is simply fantastic. It's about 2 km long and quite wide, narrowing towards the west. The water is quite shallow but quickly deepens. In addition to the sand and sea, there are beach chairs, beach bars, etc.

The promenade along the Alter Strom and then the beach promenade. Wonderful. An experience.

The Alter Strom, the original estuary of the Warnow River, is home to a fishing port, the Hotel Am Alten Strom, restaurants, cafés, and boutiques. This waterway, which has existed since 1423, served for centuries as the shipping link between the Baltic Sea and Rostock's city harbor. Due to the commencement of ferry service to Denmark, the Alter Strom was replaced as the shipping link to the city harbor in 1903 by the Neuer Strom, which was completed during the harbor reconstruction. The revolving station bridge leads from the town center, with its old, narrow streets and church, to the station peninsula with Warnemünde station, the central pier, and the fish market.

Watch out for pedestrians. This is a relatively narrow bike path with poor visibility at some bends. Enjoy this spot and sit on one of the benches.

To the left of the old river, on the western side, there are many dining and shopping options. When the weather is nice and cruise ships are there, it gets very crowded. On the right, eastern side, there are many fish stalls with fresh fish. And they're a bit cheaper than on the other side ;-).

There are interesting erosion areas west of the Ghost Forest. You are not allowed to walk up on the coast, but a little further into the forest you can walk down to the beach and then west to the cliff.
