The market square in Bad Doberan is one of the oldest urban centers in the city and was planned and laid out under Grand Duke Friedrich Franz I. It is considered a central historical square that served not only as a trading center but also as a representative site for the city's development. It was designed in the neoclassical style by the important architect Carl Theodor Severin, who also played a key role in the development of the summer residence in Heiligendamm.

The memorial was erected in 1986 by sculptor Reinhard Dietrich near Doberan Minster. It stands in the historic center of the town and is part of a broader commemoration of the victims of the Nazi dictatorship in the region.

Located directly on the dike. We really enjoyed the Rostock beer and the Rostock smoked bratwurst. The price/performance ratio is okay. The beer garden atmosphere with beer tent seating is practical. When it's really warm, a few trees also provide shade.
