The Beilstein is one of the many basalt hilltops that formed from volcanic activity approximately 28 million years ago. This freestanding basalt rock is a striking witness to erosion. Whenever it has rained heavily or the snow melts in spring, the masses of water in the Holzbach Gorge are absolutely impressive to look at and photograph. But be careful, the paths are then extremely slippery and muddy.

The natural path through the typical trees of the Westerwald offers constantly changing impressions several times a year and is also really beautiful for the local population. It can get really busy here at weekends.
