The Hillesheim water reservoir is a historic structure dating back to 1907, built in the Art Nouveau style. The architect was Wilhelm Lenz, and the building inspector was Bruno von Boehmer. The reservoir has a capacity of approximately 115 cubic meters and is known for its imposing design (de.wikipedia.org). It plays a central role in the region's water supply, providing around 9,500 residents with clean drinking water. Water is drawn from several springs and deep wells, and modern technology ensures reliable distribution. Furthermore, a new drinking water pipeline was constructed between the Hillesheim reservoir and the Birgel pumping station in several phases to further improve the reliability of the water supply.
