Good surface, nice and empty

There's a narrow canal passage here, so the view from here is quite beautiful. Tip: Step onto the canal promenade at the top – it's even more impressive there.

Two regional train lines run from Felde station, with the following connections: • RE74: Runs hourly between Kiel Hbf – Rendsburg – Husum. • RB75: Serves the Kiel Hbf – Rendsburg route with additional stops in Kiel-Russee, Melsdorf, Achterwehr, Bredenbek, and Schülldorf. Both lines are operated by Nordbahn and usually run every half hour. The journey time to Kiel is approximately 15–20 minutes.

The Evangelical Lutheran St. Catherine's Church in Westensee is under the patronage of Saint Catherine of Alexandria. The fieldstone building dates mainly from the first half of the 13th century. The Gothic choir and the massive brick west tower were added later. Burial chapels for local nobles have been added to the north and east sides. Inside is the epitaph of Daniel von Rantzau, the oldest Renaissance work of art in Schleswig-Holstein. The church was extensively restored at the beginning of 2025.

The Holtenau high bridges are high bridges that cross the Kiel Canal in Kiel and connect the two Kiel districts of Wik and Holtenau. The western bridge is called the "Prince Heinrich Bridge" (1911/1995) and is already the second one with this name at this location. The eastern one is called the "Olympic Bridge" (1972) because it was built as part of the expansion measures for the 1972 Summer Olympics. Each of the bridges has a clearance height of 42 meters, two lanes of a carriageway on federal highway 503 for cars and a sidewalk for pedestrians and cyclists. On the eastern south ramp of the carriageway towards Holtenau there is a parking lot for tourists, ship spotters and other visitors to the Kiel Canal. G
