An open border with customs station and occasional checks by the Federal Police and Customs. As a pedestrian you can happen anytime. The tram line 8 is the direct connection between Weil and Basel. In the direction of Basel, it's called Weil Grenze and Dreiländerbrücke in the direction of Weil.
