Protestant Church + Old Town Hall (1686) - Kettenheim 🚴‍♂️

Even before the Reformation, a church existed in Kettenheim. In 1621, it still belonged to the Ergersheim parish. During the Palatinate church division of 1705, the church fell to the Reformed Church, while the Catholics established a chapel in the town hall, which they dedicated to St. Leonard. They were assigned to the Freimersheim parish, while the Reformed Church employed their own preacher.

The church has a Romanesque choir tower, and the ground floor has a ribbed vault and a wide chancel arch. It was raised in 1575. In 1816, a new nave was added, oriented north-south, using building materials from the Weidas Monastery.

The most beautiful building in the village is the fire station, located right next to the church. It used to be the former town hall with a Catholic chapel. It was built in 1686. The ground floor, with its fire engine room, serves as a fire station, while the half-timbered upper floor features bay windows. 🚴‍♂️
